Job SummaryThe Supervisor, Courier Services is responsible for coordinating UMC shuttle services, which includes UMC Discharge transportation and UMC external courier line of service. The position is also responsible for responding to STAT lab requests from UMC clinics as needed.
Reports to: Assistant Director, Nursing Support Services
Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
- Performs leadership requirements including but not limited to: hiring, interviewing, training, coaching, mentoring, lead huddles, performance management, employee engagement, corrective actions, etc…
- Coordinate weekly staff rounding, quarterly O3s, 90 day evaluations, annual reviews, monthly operation reviews, and monthly accountability for all UMC couriers
- Owns and organizes Patient Discharge Home Program
- Facilitate education and training for new and existing employees
- Coordinate routes for drivers, vehicle maintenance, and safety checks following all manufacturer vehicle protocols
- Rounds monthly in UMC clinics to ensure customer satisfaction
- Collects data from LYTX to ensure safety for all drivers and couriers
- Projects ahead for vehicle replacement and quote gathering
- Prepare and present relevant metrics and required data for monthly staff meetings
- All other assigned duties related to UMC Courier
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 years supervisory or leadership experience leading people and/or processes
Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
- Valid Texas driver license
- Driving record much allow for insurability under UMC insurance policy
Skills and Abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated customer relations skills
- UMC Level V Leadership training preferred
- Working knowledge of vehicles and vehicle maintenance safety
- Ability to gather and translate data
- Ability to present to large and small audiences, including but not limited to huddles and staff meetings
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position will interact with clinic staff, patients and their family members, health care providers, UMC Patient Experience, TTU Transport Services, and DNV
Physical Capabilities
This work is mostly sedentary and subject to the inside office environment. This position requires driving when rounding the ancillary departments that we serve. Walking and riding the shuttles or vehicles is required when rounding or huddling with the staff.
Environmental/Working Conditions
The environment is subject to office hospital temperatures. There are times the environment is subject to the outside temperatures when in the UMC Shuttle and rounding in a vehicle to the clinics.
