Assists the Director in the administration of the Specialty Imaging areas within the Radiology department in accordance with national standards and hospital policies. Works closely with the Director in establishing and revising policies and procedures. Assist the Director in ensuring cooperation between the Radiology department, Texas Tech Health Sciences Center and the hospital.
REPORTS TO :
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Communicate all department activities and problems to the Director.
- Function in a professional manner at all times, especially during times of high stress
- Implement policies that will help the department operate more efficiently, evaluating throughput, while insuring high quality exams.
- Maintains uptime for all responsible equipment, scheduling maintenance and repairs promptly
- Take administrative call on rotational basis & serve on departmental or hospital committees as requested.
- Maintain and oversee a quality control program for evaluating quality of exams and reporting the results to the departments Director
- Assign appropriate preceptor to train new personnel
- Counsel employees and handle personnel issues as they arise.
- Ensure that the department operates as economical as possible, by reducing overtime, by flexing staff appropriately, scheduling staff appropriately and ensuring that supplies are not being wasted.
- Remains knowledgeable on all supplies and orders supplies as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Graduate of an accredited School of Radiology. Degree in Hospital / Business Administration preferred. Two years progressive and relevant hospital experience with one year of supervisory experience preferred. Occupational risk to blood born pathogens is minimal.
REQUIRED LICENSURES / CERTIFICATIONS / REGISTRATIONS :
Current TDH-MRT certification & CPR certified.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
Able to work well with others and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Must be able to make independent decisions and work well under stress. Knowledge of computers and word perfect programs helpful.
INTERACTION WITH OTHER DEPARTMENTS AND OTHER RELATIONSHIPS :
Interact with all hospital ancillary departments, nursing units, and administration in the daily operation of the Radiology department. Interact with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center clinics, Radiologists and Physicians when handling any issues that may arise concerning the Radiology department.

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES :
Work requires frequent sitting, standing, walking. Must be emotionally and mentally fit. The work is at times stressful with many emotional demands.
