Job Summary
Performs Monitor Technician duties and monitors patient’s cardiac rhythms under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Performs Health Unit Coordinator duties including medical record maintenance, order processing, typing, and/or word processing, and materials management functions on the nursing unit. Assists visitors, nursing staff, and members of the health care team. Assists in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment. Completes all other work related duties as assigned.

15. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.

18. Technically competent in tasks within the scope of practice of a nursing assistant and monitor tech.
19. Ability to detect abnormal cardiac monitor tracings for adult and pediatric patients.
20. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Work Experience
Health Unit Coordinator or Monitor Tech. experience in a hospital setting preferred.
License/Registration/Certification
1. Current CPR training required.
2. National Health Unit Coordinator certification preferred.
Education and Training
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Completion of the UMC dysrhythmia course within 6 months of being in the position required.
3. Completion of the UMC HUC training program within 6 months of being in the position.
