Job Summary
Performs re-assessments, collects data and contributes to the care plan under the direction of the Registered Nurse. May perform scrub activities and assist with a variety of patient care activities and interventions for patients of varying ages.
Skills
1. Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
2. Possesses effective interviewing and data collection techniques.
3. Technically competent in tasks within the scope of practice of a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
4. If applicable, skill and ability to concentrate and monitor instruments, sharps and sponge counts.
5. Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).
6. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
7. Ability to utilize computers for documentation purposes.
Work Experience
One year of experience as an LVN in a health care setting preferred.
License/Registration/Certification
Current license as a LVN in the state of Texas.
Current CPR training required.
ACLS required or obtained within 6 months of being in the position for the following areas: Ambulatory Surgical Unit, Ambulatory Surgery Center, Antepartum, Cardio PACU, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, Endo Pre-Assessment, Labor & Delivery, OR, Recovery, and Telemetry.
PALS required or obtained within 6 months of being in the position for the following areas: Ambulatory Surgical Unit, Ambulatory Surgery Center, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, Endo Pre-Assessment, OR and Recovery.
NRP required or obtained within 6 months of being in the position for the following areas: Ambulatory Surgery Center, Antepartum, Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, and Newborn Nursery.
Education and Training
Graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing required.
