Job Summary
The Echocardiography Technician Trainee through the PULL OPP program assists while training to work with echocardiography examinations for subsequent evaluation and interpretation by a physician under the supervision and guidance of an assigned preceptor. Assists with the operation of Diagnostic ECG/Echocardiography equipment. Assists and training to conduct studies include Echocardiograms 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler, contrast, stress echo, and transesophageal. Provides care to patients of varying ages and age-related needs under the supervision and guidance of an assigned Preceptor.
Minimum Job Requirements
Work Experience:
Clinical rotations required.
License/Registration/Certification:
Current BLS required.
Education and Training:
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Must be accepted into the Pull OPP program.
Confirmation of active education enrollment in an Associates of Applied Science in Diagnostic Sonography, Cardiovascular Technology or Ultrasound program is required. Degree completion must be within one year of being in this position.

- Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of patient information.
- Knowledgeable with Infection Control Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for healthcare professional
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (facemask, goggles, and latex/non A latex gloves) as needed.
- Must be mature and responsible, able to use initiative and independent judgment when necessary, and capable of working without supervision within guidelines established by the supervisor.
- Thorough knowledge of all phases of Echocardiography, EKG, and other special cardiac diagnostic equipment.
- Technically competent in tasks within the scope of practice of an Echocardiography Technician. Knowledge of ultrasound techniques should be thorough.
- Possesses effective oral and written communication skills. Knowledgeable of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Possesses effective interpersonal relationship skills. Ability to work effectively within role and with other team members.
- Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
- Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner.
- Ability to understand medical/surgical Terminology
- Ability to perform basic computer keyboard skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
