Position Summary
The Server at Umi Japanese Restaurant plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional dining experience by providing attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable service. This position requires strong customer service skills, a thorough understanding of the menu, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be professional, detail-oriented, and passionate about hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
1. Guest Experience & Service
- Greet guests warmly and provide an outstanding dining experience.
- Take food and drink orders accurately and relay them to the kitchen and bar.
- Explain menu items, offer recommendations, and accommodate special requests.
- Ensure tables are well-maintained, pre-bussed, and properly set.
- Deliver food and drinks promptly while checking on guest satisfaction.
2. Order & Payment Management
- Use the restaurant’s POS system to input orders and process payments efficiently.
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately.
- Split checks and provide receipts upon request.
3. Team Collaboration
- Work closely with hosts, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
- Assist other servers and support staff as needed.
- Communicate guest feedback or concerns to management promptly.
4. Cleanliness & Organization
- Keep tables, chairs, and dining areas clean and organized.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines for food handling and sanitation.
- Restock server stations with necessary supplies.
Qualifications
- Experience:
- Previous serving experience in a restaurant setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of Japanese cuisine and sushi is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
