POSITION PURPOSE:
The UIDC Internship with Cow Creek Information Technology Department is intended to
be a partnership between the Umpqua Indian Development Corporation and the Cow
Creek Information Technology Department offering an educational and work experience
with information technology opportunity.
INTERNSHIP DUTIES:
- Learn and develop skills in information technology to include networking of computers, system wide back up of data, and storage of data.
- Develop skills to communicate with IT professionals who specialize in Systems Software Design Engineering and Computer Programming.
- Assist in corrective and preventive maintenance of desktop computers, telephones, and office equipment.
- Assist with installation and configuration of hardware / software for desktop computers, telephones, and office equipment.
- Assist in builds, tests, and deploys computers with correct software for the installation.
- Accurately documents all work performed in Help Desk software application.
- Perform special projects as determined by the information systems team.
- Assist in needs analysis for projects, in research for solutions for needs.
- Assist in updating user and technical documentation.
- Assist in the maintenance and performance tuning of application databases.
- Assist in managing, maintaining, developing, designing and updating the intranet.
- Gain hands on practical experience to the full gamut of Help Desk roles and responsibilities.
- Fosters a sense of teamwork and collaboration within the department and property by demonstrating respect for others’ judgment and capabilities and gives praise/recognition to those who earn it.
- Ensures that guest needs are the first priority when approaching work assignments.
- Maintains confidentiality of verbal, written and electronic information. Limits access to information on a job-related, need-to-know basis.
- Ensures that both written and verbal communications are clear, concise, complete, accurate and effective.
Requirements
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- At least 18 years old for Data Center Internships, at least 21 years old for Seven Feathers Internships.
- Be enrolled in a University or Community College and maintains a C or better grade point average.
- Transportation to and from work sites.
- Ability to acquire a gaming license (21 years or older).
- Intern positions are open for Cow Creek Tribal Members and family members of active UIDC Team Members.

- Develop planning, organizational and time management skills.
- Increase knowledge of computer skills and technology.
- Develop team-based work competencies.
- Develop interpersonal skills in order to communicate with team members.
- Develop interpersonal skills in order to communicate with day-to-day business contacts through follow up calls
- Develop interpersonal skills in order to communicate with external guest.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- On the job training and structured activities occur daily at the direction of the intern supervisor.
- Interns will work a minimum of 20 hours a week not to exceed 400 hours during the internship.
- Schedule will be flexible based on student schedule and business need.
