Job Summary
According to established policies and procedures, coordinates clinical care on the Lithotripsy Unit and performs Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) procedures.
Essential Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
Required: Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)
High school Diploma or equivalent (if no ARRT)
Appropriate State and/or Federal License (where applicable).
CPR Certification
Desirable: At least on year’s experience as a Lithotripsy Specialist.
Associate or Applied Science Degree in related field.
Knowledge: Working knowledge applicable to E.S.W.L. treatment guidelines.
Ability to identify disease abnormalities and physiological processes while performing treatment
Patient care standards and requirements
OSHA principles and practices
Joint Commission standards of practice
Skills/
Abilities: Operate and adjust Lithotripsy and ancillary equipment
Schedule, organize and monitor patient flow to meet company productivity, quality, health, and safety standards.
Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, medical staff and co-workers.
Maintain the confidentiality of patient records and complete administrative records and reports.
Schedule, organize and complete work in accordance with required workloads.
Read, interpret and follow internal quality standards and government regulations.
Understand and follow specifications and instructions

Essential Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
- Assist the physician with fluoroscopic and ultrasound imaging during the ESWL procedures.
- Thoroughly explains the procedure to be performed to alleviate patient anxiety and facilitate patient cooperation.
- Assist with patient preparation required prior to examination.
- Comply with company operational and safety policies and procedures. Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and emergency procedures, where applicable.
- Maintain necessary credentials to perform mobile lithotripsy in states assigned.
- Maintain the mobile lithotripsy equipment in good operating order and maintain documentation accordingly. Clean and disinfect equipment and area after each use. Maintain work area in an orderly manner. Report any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdown according to UMS’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
- Participate in patient and staff education, and act as liaison between patient, family, physician, and hospital personnel.
- Review supply and accessory inventory.
- Assure high quality, personal service is provided to patients, referring physicians’ and facility staff.
- Communicate daily results to company voice mail per policy.
- Communicate next scheduled service site and anticipated procedure schedule to company voice mail per policy.
- Communicate daily with the Support Engineer of assigned equipment prior to day of service.
- Is available by cell phone on a 24/7 basis in the event of late notification of schedule changes.
- Check company voice mail system three (3) times daily to insure accurate knowledge of assigned accounts.
- Other duties as assigned.
