Job Overview
The Development Director plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission of our organization by leading fundraising initiatives and managing relationships with key stakeholders. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in development, public relations, and digital marketing. The ideal candidate will be skilled in negotiating partnerships and creating compelling narratives that resonate with potential donors and supporters.
Duties
- Travel 25-50% to different USI locations to engage community about the critical services USI provides.
- Secure financial support for USI from businesses, service agencies, faith communities, foundations, government, civic groups, and the general public.
- In conjunction with the Board of Directors, manage budget to ensure that USI is a financially sustainable organization with the resources to meet current and projected program growth.
- In accordance with the strategic plan, develop and grow USI footprint in current cities.
- Recruit volunteers, board members, and committee members to participate in fundraising.
- Attend monthly board meetings and required meetings.
- Collaborate with the board of directors and staff on marketing campaigns.
- Oversee and assist in planning fundraising events.
- Collect, and manage a list of major donors and potential donors.
- Develop a stewardship plan for donors and business sponsors.
- Manage and grow social media in conjunction with the network director.
- Cultivate relationships with local media and provide guidance and support for staff involved in media coverage.
- Be flexible to pick up special project assignments, which may include operations/human resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in any relevant field or equivalent proven experience
- 2 to 5 years of experience working with disadvantaged populations and/or community engagement and fundraising
- Experience with outreach, volunteer recruitment, budget, and time management
- Self-starter
- Strong motivational and staff leadership abilities
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, CRM tools, and QuickBooks
- Must clear a background check, comply to a credit check, and take a pre-employment drug screening
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds over their head on occasion
- Must be comfortable in a car or sitting at a desk for long hours
- Must own or lease their own car
- Must carry their own car insurance

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
