Overview
Operate forklift to process containers (drums / totes / buckets / gaylords) of non-hazardous waste . Waste examples may include Petroleum contaminated soil, petroleum contaminated absorbents & debris. Petroleum water mixtures. Ink and adhesives and resins.
Responsibilities
Unload drums / totes from customers transport using proper equipment and resources.
- Organize containers on shop floor into sub-categories for processing.
- Read container labeling, identify sub-category, and confirm container contents.
- Assess container contents and process accordingly.
- Empty containers at appropriate processing areas using safe techniques, processing equipment and don proper PPE.
- Maintain an organized / clean workspace.
- Once steel drums are emptied, if re-usable, return lid and ring to drum and secure.
- Remove previous labeling. If not re-usable, crush drums using drum crusher and put into steel recycling container.
- Plastic totes and drums need to be cut up so they can no longer contain free liquids.
- They are disposed of in the roll-off container for trash
- Assist with soil and sludge treatment operations.
- Assist and learn wastewater operations.
- Trash removal from cans in the plant to the roll-off container
- Any other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
