Job Title: Youth Care Coach

Job Status: Part time, non-exempt

Job Location: The Reagan, Waco, Tx

Job Summary: Unbound Now Waco runs a specialized home for girls ages 12-17 who have experienced sexual exploitation. The Youth Care Coach will be responsible for the daily care and supervision of youth placed at The Reagan. The Youth Care Coach will build healthy relationships with the youth of The Reagan, and will act as a mentor to assist in creating a trauma informed, healing environment.

Compensation: Hourly rate

Benefits: Pro-rated PTO based on hrs/wk, and option to participate in retirement plan with no match 

Schedule/Availability: TBD - Evenings, Weekends, and Holidays expected

Working conditions: Work performed in a residential home or other professional environment. Work duties may on rare occasions be performed in an environment requiring exposure to weather extremes, fumes, odors and noise.

Travel: This position may require limited travel for training and team/professional development opportunities.

Job Responsibilities:

• Staff arrives on time to their scheduled shift consistently
• Oversee youth’s completion of chores to maintain the home’s cleanliness and sanitation, including laundry, kitchen, bathrooms, orderliness of the common areas and bedrooms, taking out of trash, etc.
• Recognize red flag behavior with youth and respond according to policy, and report appropriately
• If working an evening/night  shift, conduct frequent check-ins on each youth in each room to ensure that youth remain in the home and in their own bed. Timeline of check-ins for each youth will be determined by the Reagan’s Administration and Treatment Team based on the individual supervision needs of each youth.
• Restock supplies throughout the home for the next business day
• Complete laundry for communal linen items such as sheets and towels
• Maintain daily progress notes for each assigned youth and these progress notes are to be completed within the required timeframe, before the end of shift
• Needs of the youth/house are communicated effectively during shift change
• Administer and document all administration of Prescription and non-prescription medication as approved/required for each youth
• Prepare and serve meals and snacks for youth placed at The Reagan, in accordance with Local Health Codes and Youth Allergies and food restrictions
• Teach youth life skills through the use of Trauma-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) and other trauma-informed approaches to care
• Perform Residential responsibilities related to the care of Youth in The Reagan, including appropriate clothing and hygiene; participation in school/homework, spiritual development,recreational and age-appropriate skill development activities
• Supervise and provide support to youth while attending University of Texas Charter School at Methodist Children’s Home
• Driver; providing transportation to youth when needed (must have a valid driver’s license, car insurance , and a reliable vehicle) uploaded to Unbound Now’s HRIS (human resource information system) platform prior to any travel and updated annually
• Develop appropriate, supportive and professional relationships with each assigned youth
• Serve as a positive role model to youth
• Apply approved behavior modification techniques to de-escalate inappropriate behaviors
• Facilitate and monitor youth phone calls to persons on youth’s approved contact list
• Comply with Unbound Now policies and code of ethics
• Participate in team meetings, staff training and other collaborative efforts, as needed
• Participates in Supervision and Development meetings with the Lead Youth Care Coach
• Submit travel reimbursements daily adhering to all travel guidelines
• Submit timesheet hours/grant allocations daily adhering to grant guidelines (if applicable)
• Complete all Unbound Now required training in a timely manner

Working Relationships:

Supervisors: The Reagan Child Care Administrator and Lead Youth Care Coach

Works with: DFPS; HHS; Governor’s Child Sex Trafficking Team; partner agencies, service providers and other Reagan house staff

Experience and Education 

• High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent
• A minimum of 60 accredited credit hours toward higher education degree in social work, sociology, psychology or a closely related human or social services field 
• Prior experience working with youth preferred
• Training and experience in survivor-centered, trauma-informed services

Job Requirements:

• Mature Christian faith, as evidenced by participation in a local Christian church
• Three references, (supervisor, professional, personal)
• Must be 21 years of age
• Agree to and pass all required criminal background checks, including DFPS criminal history check and abuse and neglect registry check
• Pass employment eligibility verification
• Fulfill Unbound Now’s pre-service, annual and ongoing training requirements for specialized survivor advocates
• Willingness to use personal vehicle for work travel; valid driver’s license; reliable vehicle; current car insurance
• High level of emotional maturity and responsibility
