Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance, with the ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics, and experience in facility or construction maintenance. This role requires physical stamina for heavy lifting and the ability to work effectively in various environments, including construction sites. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing various systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC in both residential and commercial settings.
Responsibilities
- Install new equipment, systems, or components in historic and modern buildings, ensuring functionality and compliance
- Perform scheduled maintenance on machinery, equipment, and systems
- Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
- Address unique challenges associated with older materials and systems, employing methods that respect the building's historical value.
- Respond to urgent maintenance issues, ensuring quick resolution while considering the architectural significance of the building.
- Ensure all work adheres to current safety standards
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities
- Apply specialized knowledge in historic building repair techniques, including but not limited to, restoration of woodwork, masonry, and period-appropriate plumbing and electrical systems.
- Collaborate closely with architects, team members & other trades to ensure maintenance activities enhance rather than detract from the building's value
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification in maintenance, mechanics, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- Familiarity with safety management practices and OSHA regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or at heights.
- Valid driver’s license might be required for travel between sites.
