7:00 am – 3:30 pm; Monday – Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary.

Mandatory Position

This position is designated as ‘mandatory’ and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the building as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions.

Primary Purpose of Position
The position is considered to be a fully functioning painting. Additionally, this position is expected to be able to perform all general maintenance work at the contributing level. This position may also be given the opportunity to perform/learn another trade discipline either at the contributing or journey level. Tasks are concentrated on painting but may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components in assigned buildings.

Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Essential Job Duties
The Facility Maintenance Technician – Building Trades performs under the direction of the Renovations Supervisor.
  • Provide career tracks including but not limited to , Carpentry, Masonry, Painting, Plastering, and Roofing that perform a variety of tasks ranging from routine and unskilled to highly skilled.
  • Apply methods and general procedures of applicable trades/maintenance techniques and develop skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment appropriate to trade.
  • Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction, and design of facility components requiring the application of skills in planning, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, communication, and knowledge of and adherence to safety policies and regulations.
  • Position may serve as lead technician and/or crew leader, directing the work of others.

Other Work Responsibilities
  • Position is considered to be fully functioning in construction.
  • This position is expected to be able to perform all general maintenance work at the journey level.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and/or delegated to support all operations.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent , experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience and knowledge applicable to building codes.
  • Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willingness to learn new computer programs.
  • Knowledge and or willingness to learn how to fly a drone and receive their 107 drone license
  • Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork with co-workers, visitors, building occupants, and the entire campus community.
  • Ability to operate assigned vehicles on and/or off-campus and is required to possess, maintain, or obtain a valid driver’s license upon appointment to the position.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills with both verbal and written interpretation, and comprehension.
  • Strong attention to details needed.

Necessary Licenses or Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Positions may be required to possess and maintain required certification, licensure, educational level, and/or experience criteria as applicable to the tasks being performed and follow applicable building codes.
