Minimum Experience/Education
Masters degree with 5 years experience (at least 1 years supervisory experience); Bachelors and at least 2 years supervisory experience and 7 years of relevant experience; or combination of equivalent education/experience.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Manager with Masters and at least 10 years of supervisory and relevant experience within higher education housing or auxiliary service operations
Duties and Responsibilities
- The Interim Director for Business Services serves as the chief/lead financial, business and human resources officer for the Department of Housing and Residence Life.
- This position may be delegated to complete tasks assigned to the Chief Housing and Residence Life Officer in the absence of the Associate Vice Chancellor and is currently a member of the department’s unit director and central management teams with primary responsibility for providing leadership, management, and fiscal accountability for one of the largest auxiliary operations on the UNC Charlotte campus.
- The Interim Director is responsible for developing and managing a unified departmental budget (over $56 million) by determining housing income, managing expenditures, and overseeing the financial planning for ongoing capital renovation and refurbishment projects estimated at over $60 million.
- Supervises Financial, Human Resources and Security Guard personnel in Housing and Residence Life.
- Provides leadership in department-level strategic planning and team development initiatives.
- Represents the department in financial and personnel matters that interface with other functional areas.
Other Work/Responsibilities
- The Interim Director shares in the responsibility for department-level strategic planning and is expected to provide expertise regarding the department’s financial health, long-term staffing and professional development needs, cost-reduction opportunities and collaborative business partnerships that add value to the department’s programs and services.
