This position may be eligible for a telework schedule once onboarding into position is complete and with supervisor approval.
Primary Purpose of Position
The person in this position serves as the weekend Circulation Desk Supervisor with a focus on working regular circulation desk hours daily. This position will provide backup coverage for the circulation desk during some weekdays, and assist with student billing, reserves and office delivery as needed.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of high school and two years experience in office support, preferably as a library technician in a library, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from a four-year college or university; or high school and four years of library experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Job Duties
Essential duties for staffing the desk include:
- Circulating books and technology, assisting users with navigating our catalog and databases, troubleshooting technology problems, and fielding incoming questions via phone or chat service.
Essential duties for managing part time staff include:
- Posting vacancies, contacting applicants, scheduling and performing interviews/reference checks, completing/ maintaining necessary paperwork, as well as training and supervising them.
- Position will provide backup coverage for the circulation desk during some weekdays and also supports library initiatives through serving on library committees.
Other Work Responsibilities
- Assist with student billing, reserves and office delivery as needed.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2 years of experience working at a circulation desk in a library.
- 2 years of customer service experience with experience being in an academic library setting preferred.
- 1 year of supervisory experience in a library setting (two or more years experience preferred)
- Familiarity with library circulation functions, and electronic resources.
- General computer skills and the ability to troubleshoot computer, copier, scanner, and printer issues.
- Experience with Microsoft and Google Suite.
- Experience with training staff.
- Familiarity with analyzing and interpreting circulation activity data from ILS and other statistics gathering platforms.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong attention to details.
