What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Systems Project Manager position at UNC Finance and Operations?
Project Management
The employee authors the scope of work documents that guide Energy Services' projects, determines the personnel resources that are needed to execute projects, develops project timelines and tracks progress, identifies risks to successful completion and develops mitigation strategies, develops and executes communication plans, develops project control mechanisms, completes project status documentation, and performs other tasks necessary to manage complex information systems projects. The employee ensures that key stakeholders are engaged in project tasks and activities, and that a project structure is created that allows the project team to function successfully.
Technology Analysis And Strategy
The employee analyzes and assesses processes and organizational requirements, and/or leads project teams in defining these requirements. The employee analyzes and assesses technical approaches, strategies, and options for implementing said systems in Energy Services. This could include the integration of all Energy Services' work management, utility systems, and alternative fuel sources. Continued monitoring and plans/updates to Energy Services shadow budget and financial reporting systems.
Implementation
The employee leads the implementation of projects specifically for Energy Services, (for example - alternative fuel sources development and implementation which not only affects Energy Services but all across UNC Campus and Hospitals). This includes coordination with affected campus units and/or a diverse group of stakeholders (including customers). Once a solution is selected, projects could include developing and executing the implementation plan, evaluation of system configuration alternatives, identification and resolution of conversion issues, developing new business processes and/or managing changes in existing processes, and ensuring users/customers are trained. This position will also monitor post-implementation of projects to ensure that any issues that arise are dealt with expediently and the implementation is smooth. This position could be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the assigned project implementation.

Performs various duties in support of other Energy Services systems, business processes and reporting projects. These duties include but are not limited to the development or review of technical or end user documentation, troubleshooting and identifying resolutions to outstanding application issues (parking lot), and the development of new business/system processes.
