What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Central Services position at UNC Health Southeastern?
POSITION SUMMARY: Provides direction, planning, and as delegated by the Surgical Services Director, assists with the utilization and coordination of unit duties. He/she maintains current knowledge regarding techniques, skills, current practices and regulations for the services and equipment within area(s) of responsibility. Provides or coordinates, orientation, training and staff development for Central Service staff. Responsibility for administrative management of the unit and in collaboration with the Manager of OR/PACU. Ability to perform duties of a Central Sterile CST on an ‘as indicated’ basis. Monitors and evaluates the daily operation of the unit, with assessment for improvement opportunities and implementation strategies. Collaboration with multiple areas of the organization as ‘Customers’ and expectation for provision and receiving Excellent service. Expectation to review instrumentation from all areas of Organization and maintenance of standards of practice, including review of competencies with respective leaders of those various areas.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Required:Bachelor’s Degree. Graduate of a Certified Surgical Technology Program with certification (CST); 5 years’ experience in Sterile Processing and Surgical services. Highly knowledgeable and proficient in all sterile procedures to include preparation and sterilization activities, including decontamination, documentation, inspection, preparation packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of sterile items to include out-based clinics.
Preferred: Certification in International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM)
