What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sleep Technologist-Student position at UNC Health Southeastern?
POSITION SUMMARY: The sleep technologist student works under the general supervision of the clinical director (MD) or designee to provide a comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services or patient care and education. The sleep technologist student will collect, monitor, and analyze electrical activity of brain waves and standard physiological measurements of polysomnography for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of neurological, neuromuscular, and/or respiratory disorders of sleep.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Required: Student in an accredited polysomnography sleep tech program.
ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Incumbent must demonstrate an ability to apply age-appropriate principles of communication and clinical practice relevant to unique needs of adult and geriatric patients. Incumbent must demonstrate competence in the use of polysomnography software, equipment and application of procedures before being allowed to perform independently.
