POSITION SUMMARY: The Sterile Processing Technician I is responsible for the monitoring and maintenance procedures for the sterilization of medical devices. Cleans and decontaminates equipment and instruments. Responsible for operation of steam and other forms of sterilization. Delivers and picks up equipment and contaminated instruments from the nursing units. Responds to telephone and computer requests for supplies and equipment.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Required: High school diploma or equivalent. CRCST or CSPDT certification must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire
Preferred: 6 months experience in Central Service or Completion of Sterile Processing Technician Course.
ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Basic computer knowledge. A working knowledge of medical terminology.
