What are the responsibilities and job description for the Unit Manager-Main PPACU position at UNC Health Southeastern?
POSITION SUMMARY
The Unit Manager is a nurse leader who provides direction, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care for assigned area on a 24-hour basis. He/she maintains current knowledge regarding techniques, skills, current practices, and regulations for the age and populations of patients served. He/she manages all personnel, supplies, and equipment necessary to facilitate quality patient care. Supports a collaborative work environment with knowledge of areas of responsibility and may, as needed, provide assistance in any area of responsibility.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
1. Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
2. Currently licensed as an RN in North Carolina.
3. BSN required.
4. Minimum of 3-5 years recent clinical nursing experience in Surgical Services.
5. Demonstrated supervisory skills.
ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
1. Knowledge of and ability to develop strategies to apply current theoretical approaches to the delivery of patient care.
2. Knowledge of current leadership, management and quality improvement concepts.
3. Ability to perform and or lead program development and implementation.
4. Strong customer excellence skills.
5. Strong written and oral communication skills.
6. Ability to deal with the public.
7. Function as a RN when needed.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to Director of Surgical Services.
