Responsibilities
- Develop, design, and implement of the organizations overall internal and external strategic plan to include public/media relations, social media, community affairs, and advocacy work, ensuring it reflects the organization’s brand identity, user experience, and meets the strategic objectives of UNC Health Wayne. Collaborate with administration, key stakeholders and external resources on development and continuous monitoring of the marketing and communication plan to ensure it promote hospital services, enhance public perception, increase market share, and develop a community of support.
- Work with operational leaders to create a contemporary, integrated approach to the desired patient experience, ensuring brand continuity and a customer service focus at every touch point.
- Work in collaboration with administration and human resources to develop teammate engagement initiatives designed to promote positive interactions that impacts the overall culture of the organization.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy that increases brand awareness, engage followers, and drive traffic to UNC Health Wayne’s digital platforms. Monitor and analyze social media metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and adjust strategies as needed to optimize performance and achieve key performance indicators.
- Monitor social media content for performance and user engagement metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement enhancements to enhance user experience and drive engagement. Ensure social media content is up-to-date, accurate, and optimized for search engines (SEO). Manage social media advertising campaigns, including budget allocation, targeting, creative development, and performance analysis to maximize ROI. Collaborate with internal teams to coordinate social media content with marketing campaigns, events, and other organizational initiatives.
- Stay informed and up to date with the latest digital communication trends, tools, and best practices in social media marketings, and incorporate innovative strategies to enhance engagement and reach. Conduct regular competitive analysis to benchmark UNC Health Wayne’s social media presence against industry peers and identify opportunities for differentiation and improvement. Provide regular reports and on social media performance, trends, and audience behavior to inform decision-making and strategy refinement.
- Represent UNC Health Wayne at community events, and networking opportunities to enhance the organization’s visibility and reputation. Engage with event attendees, media personnel, and key stakeholders to communicate the organization's mission, services, and achievements effectively. Engage the community through speaking engagements, community forums, educational offerings, media, and identify other opportunities to communicate the organization's vision and mission.
- Maintain contact with local, state, and federal elected officials as appropriate to further develop supportive and productive community relationships. Stay informed and engaged in key legislative issues; interacting with the North Carolina Hospital Association, UNC Government relations and other outside groups. Recommend strategies and communications as appropriate to involve the hospital in relevant legislative activities.
- Manage a detailed and accurate budget; maintain standard monthly reporting for public relations and strategic planning.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, leadership support and guide day to day activities of the marketing coordinator.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree with significant experience in public relations, communications, marketing, journalism, or similar field required.
- Master’s degree preferred.

Experience
- Minimum three to five years’ experience developing and managing communications and marketing in a complex corporate environment or related to healthcare preferred.
- Minimum two years in a leadership role preferred.
- Knowledge of fiscal management techniques, governmental regulations and compliance requirements in the healthcare field desired.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Able to present complex concepts to internal and public audiences.
- Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Excellent computer skills and able to leverage technology effectively as part of a marketing and communications strategy.
