Position Overview :
Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, UNC Health Rex includes a 439-bed hospital, a 50-bed hospital, two skilled Nursing Facilities, a Cancer Center, two ambulatory Surgery Centers, and outpatient specialty clinics.
Summary :
We seek a dynamic Director of Infection Prevention professional with excellent clinical expertise, a strong improvement background, and the creativity to drive innovation in infection prevention practices. In this essential role, you will collaborate with executive leadership, medical staff, nursing, and ancillary teams to implement strategies for minimizing hospital-acquired infections. As a Director of Infection Prevention, you will ensure that our practices meet all regulatory compliance standards regarding infection prevention, surveillance, and reporting while providing guidance and support to the Infection Prevention department. By collaborating with diverse teams, you’ll lead initiatives that significantly enhance patient safety and drive outstanding healthcare outcomes.
The ideal candidate must be Certified Infection Control (CIC) to be considered.

Responsibilities :
- Utilizes The Joint Commission (TJC), Occupation Health and Safety (OSHA) and Centers of Disease Control (CDC), county and state guidelines to lead a successful infection prevention program at UNC Health Rex.
- Manages infection prevention and control policies and ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and standards to minimize the risk of infection.
- Works professionally with leaders across the organization to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement in infection control practices.
- Responsible for the oversight of the Infection Control Committee. Represents Infection Control and Prevention in several UNC Health Rex and UNC Health System committees.
- Serves as the subject matter expert for all infection prevention activities at UNC Health Rex, serving as the key resource for teammates and the community. Serves as the Infection Control Officer for the organization.
- Prepares and manages departmental budget.
