Job Description

As part of UNC Rex Holly Springs, a leading surgical program, you will be working in a 3 Operating room and 1 Procedure Room environment, providing intraoperative care for various service lines.
The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 7am - 5pm (4 10-hour shifts) with weeknight and weekend call requirements.
Surgical Technologist I Role
You will work under the supervision of a surgeon and registered nurse to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing technical skill duties in all operating room specialty service areas
- Maintaining equipment, assembly, handling, and sterilization techniques
- FOLLOWING Aseptic technique and identifying contamination
- Performing surgical counts and labeling drugs and solutions
- Assisting in specimen identification and preparation
- Planning and setting up instruments, supplies, and surgical drapes
- Recognizing anatomy and abnormalities affecting surgical procedures
- Inventorizing, receiving, and storing supplies
- Identifying and reporting defective instruments and equipment
- Operating complex equipment and resources
- Mentoring Surgical Technician Trainees
Requirements
We require Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification, and either a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program, or a Military Training Program in Surgical Technology.
A strong understanding of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and sterile and aseptic technique is essential. Strong communication skills, excellent organizational/priority setting skill, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment are also required.
