THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Director of Technology and Learning Systems is a visionary leader responsible for shaping and managing the technology strategy, infrastructure, and learning systems that support UNC Kenan-Flagler Executive Development’s mission to deliver innovative, impactful learning experiences for leaders across industries, government and defense, and non-profits. This role sits at the intersection of technology, leadership development, and digital transformation, driving forward-looking solutions to meet the dynamic needs of a global client base.

Effective leadership in this role requires thoughtful engagement with both internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, learners, and external partners and clients. Key areas of focus include advancing cutting-edge digital learning platforms and tools, leveraging AI and data analytics to enhance learning outcomes, optimizing CRM systems like Salesforce for strategic client engagement, and ensuring robust IT and security infrastructure to support seamless operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute forward-thinking technology strategies aligned with leadership development and executive education goals. Act as a thought leader on emerging trends in digital learning, AI, and data-driven solutions.
  • Technology Infrastructure: Oversee systems like LMS, Salesforce, and enterprise IT platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365) to ensure scalability, security, and reliability.
  • Digital Learning Innovation: Partner with program teams to design client-focused, engaging learning experiences that leverage innovative technologies and meet client needs.
  • Data Governance & Risk Management: Implement data governance frameworks and ensure compliance with global data privacy, security, and risk management standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Train and support staff, faculty, and clients in adopting new technologies, while gathering feedback to align strategies with user needs.
  • Team & Vendor Management: Lead a team of technology specialists, foster a culture of excellence, and manage vendor relationships to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Leadership & Vision: Proven ability to lead in rapidly evolving environments, with a strong understanding of trends in executive education, AI, and digital learning.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep experience with LMS, CRM platforms like Salesforce, and enterprise IT systems (Microsoft Office 365). Familiarity with AI-enabled tools and data-driven systems is highly desirable.
  • Strategic Mindset: Strong track record of aligning technology strategies with organizational goals in professional services or educational settings.
  • Operational Excellence: Demonstrated success in managing IT infrastructure, ensuring security, and optimizing system performance for global organizations.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively across cross-functional teams and with external partners. Able to influence without direct control and demonstrate developed decision-making capability including negotiation and collaboration skills.
  • Innovation & Problem-Solving: Creative thinker with the ability to design and implement cutting-edge solutions in digital learning and technology management. Ability to proactively solve problems to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates should have a minimum of 7-10 years in technology and learning systems as well as supporting business units in a professional services organization.

The Director of Learning and Technology Systems is an employee of the Kenan-Flagler Business School Executive Education, LLC, an affiliated organization of UNC-Chapel Hill. This position is not a University or State of North Carolina position.
