Our Espresso-Candy Department is growing and we have created a new position to enhance the customer experience! We are seeking an Espresso-Candy Manager for our newly combined Espresso and Candy Bar at our Melville Store!
The Espresso-Candy Manager is responsible for managing the Candy Store combined Espresso Bar. This individual will be responsible for staff scheduling. hiring, training, department inventory and all operations of the department.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing the overall operations of the Candy-Espresso Department including staffing, merchandising, training, inventory, and customer service initiative
- Will maintain and manage a department schedule for all store shifts
- Will ensure that all candy and drink orders are filled in a timely manner
- Responsible for candy decorating, running a register, assisting customers and providing excellent customer service to our customers/vendors
- Oversee all department equipment, ensuring that they functioning in proper working order. Address any equipment issues immediately
- Overall management and operations of our standards of cleanliness, safety and food handling
- Will evaluate all processes within the department, identifying areas for improvement with service, menu options and customer service
- Assist customers with all drink and candy item selections, assisting with any questions they may have
- Other duties and functions as assigned
Requirements
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a candy store/coffee house as a Lead Clerk or Assistant Manager
- Must have knowledge of department inventory items, storage, shelf life, safety standards, proper food handling laws, etc.
- Must have proven experience as a Department Manager, training, hiring and scheduling staff
- Requires strong leadership and communication skills
- Focus on customer satisfaction and providing excellent customer service
- Practice basic safety procedures with respect to equipment and handling hot beverages
- Build good relationships with customers and staff

Working Conditions
• Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
• May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.
• Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.
• There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents, sharp objects/industrial equipment necessary to perform job duties and functions.
