About our new position......
Our Tinton Falls, NJ Store has a newly created opportunity to work as the Lead Cook in its busy Seafood Department Kitchen! This Full-Time position will have the responsibility for the cooking operations of our Seafood Kitchen. This will include following instructions and recipes relating to the timely preparation of hot and cold seafood food orders, organizing workstations, and assisting and guiding other cooks in the kitchen. Will ensure that the refrigerators and storerooms are kept clean and neat with proper inventory accounted for. This position will be responsible for leading the Seafood Department cooking team. (Must have cooking experience with any type dishes).
Responsibilities
- Preparing and assembling ingredients for our seafood menu
- Will follow company recipes to prepare the best quality hot and cold dishes for the Seafood Department
- Ensure that all food is stored at the correct temperature in order to avoid spoilage
- Properly measure all food portions and food presentation to ensure a consistent recipe and standard for Seafood meals
- Oversee supply and kitchen items and will work with the Seafood Manager to re-order stock as needed
- Ensure that all cooking utensils, surfaces and cooking area are well cleaned prior to preparing food in the area
- Will assist other cooks to ensure that food orders are completed in a timely manner
- Efficiently resolving problems with customers’ orders
- Follow all safety standards and company policy for safe food handling and storage
- Other duties and functions as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of experience as a prep or line cook
- Experience leading a kitchen team and cooking in a fast paced retail environment
- Must be able to speak, read and communicate in the English language; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
- ServSafe food handling certification is preferred
- Sound knowledge of cooking methods and techniques

Working Conditions
- Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
- May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.
- Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.
- There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents, sharp objects/industrial equipment necessary to perform job duties and functions.
