What are the responsibilities and job description for the Receiver-Driver position at UNCLE GS MGMT CORP?
Our Port Jefferson Station Store is actively seeking a FT Receiver/Driver for its team! This individual will review inventory and determine what supplies need to be ordered. Individual will write up purchase orders and submit them to vendors, track orders, and arrange for the shipment of these items. Will also be responsible for receiving incoming shipments, organizing and maintain stock, reviewing the process of receiving and ensuring the safety within the environment that they work. This position will also be a back up driver for our house truck two (2) days per week, driving to several of our LI Stores. A CDL is NOT needed for this position.

Ensure Safe Warehouse Operations and Supply Storage
Safety is a main priority for Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace, and it is up to receiving clerks to assist with the implementation of safety practices and processes within a warehouse. They make sure that all safety procedures comply with state and federal regulations, post safety information for employee review, train employees in safety methods, and maintain a neat and orderly environment. Experience working in Receiving is required for this position.
Mechanical Skills – Operating warehouse machinery and equipment calls; individuals must possess strong mechanical skills.
- Data Entry – Receiving clerks should be adept at entering accurate data for purchase orders, inventory logs, safety reports, and other records
- Computer Skills – Familiarity with inventory software, tracking systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Communication – Oral and written communication skills are crucial when it comes to placing orders, speaking with suppliers and submitting inventory reports.
- Work Independently – Receiving clerks must possess the ability to make quick decisions in fast-paced environments without having to consult superiors.
- Organizational Skills – Keeping an orderly warehouse allows for accuracy in ordering and maintaining supplies
- Physicality – The ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and bend, stoop, and lift are physical attributes that are important for receiving clerks.
Requirements
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working in receiving. Forklift experience is required.
- Clean driving record and ability to drive a house truck (non-CDL length truck)
- Good understanding of warehouse safety rules and regulations
- Physical dexterity and experience operating commercial grade equipment including a forklift (if licensed)
- Computer skills and basic knowledge of data entry and inventory software programs
