Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to patients in various healthcare settings, including inpatient and outpatient environments. The ideal candidate will have experience or a strong interest in geriatrics and will be comfortable working in a teaching hospital, Level I Trauma Center, or clinic. This role is vital in ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care while promoting their dignity and independence.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients to enhance their well-being.
- Monitor patient health by observing changes in condition and reporting any concerns to nursing staff.
- Help with mobility and transportation within the facility, ensuring safety at all times.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to infection control protocols.
- Participate in patient care planning meetings as needed to ensure comprehensive care.
- Support nursing staff in various tasks related to patient care within inpatient units, outpatient clinics, or during hospital medicine rounds.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or similar role preferred; experience in geriatrics is a plus.
- Familiarity with healthcare settings such as teaching hospitals, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), OR (Operating Room), or Level I Trauma Centers is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols effectively.
- Must be able to pass background checks as required by healthcare regulations.
