Kitchen Helper
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Prepare and serve well-balanced and nutritious meals for clients/special events. Serve clients in a courteous, helpful, and prompt manner. The kitchen helper must maintain a clean kitchen facility, and support in various areas including receiving and stocking all kitchen products
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Responsibilities to include but not limited to the following)

Prepare/serve food for Covenant House clients/special events.

Clean and sanitize dishes/kitchen utensils.

Clean floors, walls, and food preparation equipment.

Obtain products as needed by the cook.

Assist with stocking supply rooms.

Strictly follow sanitation, hygiene and food handling standards as per department of health and hygiene
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Education & Experience
-
High School diploma/GED and Certificate in Food Protection preferred.
-
One-year experience in the food services industry.
Knowledge/Skills
-
Prior experience with cooking utensils and equipment preferred.

Detail-oriented and strong communication skills

Ability to operate the following machinery: Dishwasher, Floor scrubber, cleaning tools

Ability to carry heavy loads of food products and kitchen equipment
Hourly rate $17.12
Shift - 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm rotating
Compensation
Covenant House New York offers a rich package of benefits including but not limited to full medical, vision, dental, life, and short and long-term disability insurance and other fringe benefits. Eligibility for medical benefits begins on the date of hire. PTO includes 3 weeks of vacation in the first year, 10 holidays, 13 sick days, 5 personal days, and birthday days off.
