Resident Advisor, ON
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Overnight Residential Advisor will provide residential clients with supportive services in a positive and nurturing environment using an integrated, multidisciplinary team approach.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Responsibilities to include but not limited to the following)

Assist in the assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of the clients' holistic plan

Maintain documentation of clients' activities on the unit and during their residency with the Agency

Monitor client activities to ensure a safe and secure environment and conduct room searches

Provide group support services such as escorting clients to the cafeteria for meals, recreation, group therapy sessions and special activities

Participate in team, case-management and staff meetings

Generate a monthly report and contract documentation as needed by the case manager and social worker

Conduct workshops on various life-skill issues, such as hygiene, anger management, self-esteem, and problem-solving

Regular attendance and punctuality is essential to provide proper coverage of the unit

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Education & Experience
-
Experience working with at-risk youth strongly preferred.

Driver’s license preferred. Comfortability driving a 7-passenger van is a plus.
Knowledge/Skills
-
Excellent organizational skills to develop living situations for young adults.

Ability to monitor and de-escalate in a crisis situation.

Ability to follow instructions, prioritize assignments and work in a fast-paced environment.

Flexible work schedule to include evenings, weekends and holidays.

Hourly rate $17.79
Compensation
Covenant House New York offers a rich package of benefits including but not limited to full medical, vision, dental, life and short and long-term disability insurance and other fringe benefits. Eligibility for medical benefits begins on the date of hire. PTO includes 3 weeks of vacation in the first year, 10 holidays, 13 sick days, 5 personal days and birthday days off. Benefits include a 403b with employer contribution after 12 months.
