Summary
The goal of the Inventory Planning Manager is to manage the day-to-day supply chain activities related to demand planning, supply planning, sourcing, and procurement of Under Canvas Supply Chain inventory planning function. Through close collaboration with key internal stakeholders, strong attention to detail and communication, and a deep understanding of supply chain processes and dependencies, the Inventory Planning Manager maximizes the timely delivery of product while minimizing costs.
The role is cross-functional, requiring collaboration with other Supply Chain team members and other external and internal stakeholders across Under Canvas’ business. The Inventory Planning Manager cultivates positive relationships across the business and addresses issues with a positive attitude, providing facts and data where applicable. They establish and communicate clear expectations and goals to both internal and external stakeholders. Further, they provide the necessary guidance and leadership to achieve those goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Under Canvas’ Supply Chain inventory planning operations, including both demand, supply planning, and procurement.
- Develop and maintain the inventory demand plan through close collaboration with project managers and general managers across Under Canvas’ portfolio of guest sites, ensuring demand plans align with company development and financial objectives.
- Accurately manage the tools and processes utilized for inventory planning, including the maintenance of the data required to facilitate inventory planning decision-making.
- Execute critical lead and support functions in sourcing vendors for goods and services, including timely procurement audits, bid requests, and contract and pricing negotiations. Provide thorough financial and qualitative guidance in vendor selection.
- Identify and execute on avenues to achieve cost savings through product research, vendor selection, and vendor negotiation.
- Facilitate strong relationships with vendors through proactive communication, establishing prudent working agreements, and providing annual vendor reviews supported by action-oriented supplier metrics.
- Be a key cultural contributor, supporting the standard for a positive, collaborative, professional, and productive work culture.
- Key contributor to inventory planning decision-making, providing a balanced supply and demand related perspective to elevate effective decisions.
- Consistent adherence to key timelines and milestones for inventory planning, purchasing, and supporting operational data.
- Manage inventory levels to balance on-hand inventory with cost-efficiency while factoring in seasonal fluctuations of demand.
- Execute, communicate, and provide visibility into purchase orders and associated management, maximizing on-time delivery, minimizing costs, and driving internal communication to internal stakeholders.
- Manage, generate, and communicate inventory supply reporting platform, providing timely insight into company’s supply situation to key company stakeholders.
- Drive team ownership of the item master list, ensuring SKU hierarchy and other core datasets optimize efficiency and accuracy in the business.
- Lead and support team members, championing their development, recognizing their achievements, and building a culture where knowledge, productivity, and growth are valued and recognized.
- Address emerging issues and suggest ways to improve the overall approach.
- Collaborative and effective team-player with colleagues from across the organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- BA/BS preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a comparable role in inventory management preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Teams and Excel
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in negotiation and/or project management preferred
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Able to operate with minimal supervision
- Critical thinking skills, customer-focused, and organized
