What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Manager position at Underdog Sports?
About the role and why it's unique:
- Lead a delivery team of talented and driven engineers to deliver features and solutions for the sports betting and fantasy services
- Facilitate growth of the engineering talent on your team as they confront both technical and career issues by managing the team’s workstream, improving processes, and building a healthy and stimulating environment
- Partner with the product lead for feature discovery, day-to-day product development, and delivery planning
- Collaborate with other Engineering leads to help create technical roadmap for the organization
- Support the design and development of a clean, well-structured, and maintainable code to help build and maintain our services
- Build awareness of the best practice standards defined by communities of practice and ensure they are applied by your development team
- Promote diversity by nurturing a collaborative and inclusive environment where all voices are heard
- Develop a deep understanding of our business and architectural value, and help reduce operational complexity with technical solutions
- Contribute to developing, maintaining, and reviewing the code for your team
Who you are:
- You have a minimum of one year experience managing a software delivery team
- Experience building highly scalable, available distributed systems to handle high traffic conditions with low latency
- Strong background in building platform solutions
- Excellent software architecture skills
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem solving skills with both engineers and product
- High level of accountability, bias to action and a desire to empower individuals on the team to perform at their best
Even better if you have:
- Experience leading a team in a remote-first environment
- Experience working with product managers in gathering requirements, investigating technical needs and creating designs that fit within project timelines
- Experience with regulated industries
- Experience building Web, Android, or iOS applications
- Proficiency working in GCP or other cloud infrastructures like AWS or Azure
Our target starting base salary range for this position is between $190,000 and $215,000, plus target equity. The starting base salary will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s skills and experience, among other things.
