What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Learning Engineer position at Understanding Recruitment?
Machine Learning Engineer – Computer Vision x Sensor Fusion x Real-World AI
📍 Denver, CO | Hybrid (3 days/week)
We’re hiring for one of the most technically elite AI teams in the country — not a dashboard shop, but a true R&D lab pushing the boundaries of perception systems. This is real machine learning in the real world: multi-modal sensor fusion, computer vision, edge deployment, and production-grade AI.
🧠 Who We’re Looking For
This is not a generalist ML role. We’re looking for engineers with both academic firepower and deep hands-on experience:
- Exceptional academic background — BSc, MSc, or PhD from a Top 25 Computer Science or related engineering program
- Expertise in computer vision sensor fusion — object detection, multi-object tracking, segmentation, SLAM, etc.
- Fluency in Python and modern ML/CV tooling — PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenCV, etc.
- Hands-on, fast-moving mindset — you prototype fast, test in the field, and ship
- Bonus: Experience deploying models to edge/embedded systems, or working with LiDAR/radar/camera integrations
🛠 What You’ll Be Working On
- Designing ML pipelines that integrate data from LiDAR, radar, cameras, and custom sensors
- Building and training perception algorithms for detection, classification, segmentation, and tracking
- Rapid prototyping field validation, followed by hardened production deployment
- Collaborating with a small, world-class engineering team where autonomy and technical excellence are the baseline
This is a rare opportunity to work on real-world AI with some of the smartest engineers in applied ML. If you’ve got the education, depth, and drive to build next-gen perception systems, we’d love to talk.
