Job Title: Contract Marine Construction Laborer


Job Summary:

The Marine Laborer plays a critical role in the construction and maintenance of marine and coastal infrastructure projects. This position involves performing various manual labor tasks to support the construction, repair, and maintenance of piers, docks, seawalls, and other marine structures. The ideal candidate will have experience in heavy civil construction, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work in challenging environments.

 

The period of employment will start on October 1, 2024, and ends after 4 weeks. Although there could be an opportunity to gain full time employment, it would depend on the need of the company, as well as the skills of the personnel.

 

The project will be with JEA and will be in Jacksonville, FL. The work schedule will be 7 days a week, 12 hours a day, and there will be both day and night shifts.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain various types of construction equipment and tools, including but not limited to jackhammers, drills, saws, and concrete mixers.
  • Perform tasks such as concrete demolition and concrete forming.
  • Must have the ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and work at heights with fall gear.
  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials and equipment to and from the worksite.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment for all team members.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members, including heavy equipment operators, excavators, welders, and commercial divers, to complete projects on time and within budget.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in heavy civil construction but not a requirement.
  • Ability to operate and maintain construction equipment and tools.
  • Strong understanding of construction techniques and best practices.
  • Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
  • Basic knowledge of safety regulations and practices in construction.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Certifications in OSHA safety training and other relevant areas are a plus.


Work Environment:

  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
  • May be required to work at heights, in confined spaces, and on uneven terrain.
  • Regularly exposed to noise, dust, and other construction site hazards.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) frequently.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as digging, lifting, and climbing.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work on feet for extended periods.
