We are partnered with a global organization seeking a Senior EHS Director to join their team. This newly created role is a high-impact position that will shape and lead the company’s safety and security frameworks across multiple levels, including executive security, corporate office safety, and multi-site retail security. The ideal candidate is a seasoned safety professional with recent corporate EHS experience, complemented by a background in security.
Position Responsibilities :
- Work with the Executive team to develop and deliver a successful Safety and Security strategy.
- Develop corporate EHS and employee injury mitigation strategies and objectives through collaboration with business units EHS and HR staff and senior management. Manages the participation and review of EHS standards.
- Innovate methods to drive continuous improvement in preventing employee injuries and reducing workers compensation costs.
- Promote EHS awareness through monthly calls with operations, in department meetings, and promote safety throughout the company.
- Develop and implement safety and security policies and guidance for all the organization corporate offices including access requirements, annual safety / OSHA / security training, emergency response plans and drills, etc.
- Develop and implement safety and security policies and guidance for the organization assets including security checklists, emergency response plans and drills, monitoring and tracking compliance. Provide oversight and scrutiny of safety and security across their assets, and support asset compliance.
- Coordinate safety and security standards with Crisis Management and Business Continuity Plans to minimize impact and speed communication and response.
- Establish metrics and reviews inspection data, incident investigation results and loss-runs to identify meaningful trends in the organization. Produce regular reports detailing activity, data and performance analysis and forward-looking discussion of priorities.
- Deliver a successful framework of incident investigation, auditing, and training, with a primary focus on action closure and lessons learned.
- Increase near miss reporting and the understanding of how these opportunities can be valuable.
- Develop training programs to promote awareness and ensure colleagues are knowledgeable about safety protocols.
- Provide strategic direction leadership, operational management and financial budgetary control for the Health, Safety and Environmental Team.
- Lead the Health and Safety Management System and ensuring alignment with ISO 145001.
- Identify methods to develop safety culture and improve safety leadership skills at each business unit.
- Analyze, interpret, and communicate relevant safety-related and workers compensation data to senior management and operational units. Provide a review of program effectiveness to all levels of leadership.
- Prepare, maintain and retrieve records, reports, or documents that may be required to meet corporate or regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the review of the safety manuals annually and evaluate the effectiveness of the current policy. Lead the implementation of safety and loss mitigation program changes collaboratively while achieving results within operational units.
- Experience in change management and the confidence and gravitas to be the “voice of health & safety”, from time to time asking tough questions, having difficult conversations, and ensuring decisions deliver great outcomes.
