Job Purpose And Organizational Context
General Assembly Resolution 2186 (XXI) decided to “bring into operations the United Nations Capital Development Fund as an organ of the General Assembly which shall function as an autonomous organization of the United Nations. The UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) assists developing countries, especially least developing countries, in the development of their economies by supplementing existing sources of capital assistance by means of grants, loans, and guarantees. UNCDF’s vision is to help mobilize and catalyze an increase of capital flows for SDG impactful investments to Member States to address the most pressing development challenges facing vulnerable communities in these countries and thereby contribute to sustainable economic growth and equitable prosperity.
UNCDF utilizes its unique capability in the UN system to deploy grants, loans and guarantees to crowd-in finance for the scaling of development impact. UNCDF focuses on where the needs are greatest, a deliberate focus and capability rooted in UNCDF’s unique investment mandate to support the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the realization of the Doha Programme of Action for the least developed countries, 2022–2031.

As per its Strategic Framework, UNCDF works to deploy its functions as a hybrid development organization and development finance institution. UNCDF responds to Member States requests for assistance by providing targeted technical and financial advisory services on investments for development outcomes, designing bespoke financial structuring solutions, undertaking financial derisking of investments, and enhancing investment readiness of SDG aligned projects in partnership with private sector, UNOs, International and Local Finance Institutions, Development Finance Institutions as well as Foundations and Philanthropy, among others. UNCDF works to develop local financial systems, new markets and mobilize and crowd in capital from public and private sources. UNCDF is driven by a partnership mindset which enables it to deploy its different capital capabilities in highly tailored and responsive ways in order to mobilize investments flows from other sources, in particular from the private sector. By structuring transactions which are highly impactful, but also recognize the need for multiplying the impact of its own capital, UNCDF seeks to position itself as a preferred partner for different stakeholders. He/She is part of the Strategic Communications Unit within the UNCDF Directorate and will maintain a close working relationship with communications colleagues within the Directorate and in field locations.

Scope of Work
The Communications Analyst - Web and Visual Design is expected to perform the following tasks.
Ensure Branding/visual identity.
- Guide in the redesign of visual identity products for UNCDF, mapping the scope of required materials, ensuring that external templates and visibility products are made available to colleagues, and centralizing all materials in a single location for easy access and consistency.
- Serve as the primary focal point for branding guidelines, performing branding checks as required on external publications and materials.
- Identify visual communication trends to integrate into UNCDF’s digital presence, liaising with suppliers for support as required.
- Guide in creating visually compelling content in multiple media formats for global and targeted audiences.
- Guide in managing basic design projects including photo selection, photo and video editing, graphics design.
- Coordinate the design and implementation of web-based content, supporting the publishing of stories, videos, blogs, and event pages, ensuring that all content aligns with UNCDF branding guidelines and best practices.
- Manage the day-to-day maintenance, and functionality of the UNCDF websites.
- Serve as the primary focal point for the UNCDF corporate website, sub-sites and external websites, providing coordination on web-related issues.
- Lead the redesign process of the UNCDF corporate website, in liaison with UNCDF’s Communications Specialist and the developing company.
- Evaluate the potential migration of the content management system to improve efficiency and scalability and oversee that process.
- Conduct regular research on emerging digital trends and suggest opportunities to further UNCDF’s digital reach.
- Coordinate with communications colleagues to ensure that press release, campaign promotion materials and publications releases are published in a timely manner.
- Participate in and ensure sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice on project related issues. Support establishment of knowledge platforms for the project, facilitate innovative mechanisms for dissemination of knowledge from the project, and develop knowledge resources and products to share with project partners and to support UNDP’s engagement in this area.

Min. education requirements
- Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Communication, Journalism, Digital Media, or other relevant disciplines is required. OR
- A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas stated above, in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Applicants with a master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field of study are not required to have professional work experience.
- Applicants with a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) are required to have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in coordination skills of multi-sectorial programming, graphic design, monitoring and evaluation and media relations.
- Practical experience in graphic design, including the use of design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc.).
- Proven experience of graphic production from start to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and color management.
- Knowledge and experience with websites and content management systems.
- Familiarity with multi-media software for preparing videos and sound recording.
- Knowledge of media and reporting protocols.
- Proven experience and good understanding of mass media and communication networks in forestry, climate change, and environment.
- Demonstrated experience in branding.
- Experience in working with UN agencies and international organizations.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Working knowledge of another UN language is desired.
