Description
The primary objective of this position is to educate, train, and assist clients in minimizing hazards in their workplaces. This is accomplished by visiting worksites, identifying risks, analyzing procedures, and proposing recommendations to the client on how to control areas of risk exposure. The Safety & Loss Control Consultant will provide expert consultation to clients on safety and loss control strategies, conduct comprehensive training sessions, and develop customized solutions to mitigate risks. Your efforts will directly contribute to enhancing workplace safety and reducing potential losses for our clients.
Requirements
- Collaborate with clients to assess their current safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Provide professional recommendations to improve safety standards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. ?
- Design and deliver engaging safety training programs tailored to various industries.
- Topics may include OSHA compliance, workplace hazard identification, and emergency response protocols. ?
- Conduct thorough evaluations of client facilities to identify potential hazards.
- Develop and implement effective loss control action plans to address identified risks. ?
- Stay abreast of the latest OSHA rules and regulations.
- Assist clients in maintaining compliance through up-to-date materials, facility inspections, and accurate record-keeping. ?
- Create and oversee the implementation of new safety policies and programs.
- Monitor their effectiveness and make necessary adjustments to ensure continuous improvement. ?
- Analyze workers’ compensation losses, OSHA 300 logs, and other relevant data to identify trends and problem areas.
- Provide insights and recommendations to clients to prevent future incidents.
Professional Requirements
- Education: Associates in Risk Management designation, Associate Safety Professional certification, or Certified Safety Professional. Master’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Insurance, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of four years’ experience in commercial insurance operations, minimum of three years directly involved with worksite safety initiatives. Proven track record of managing large insurance portfolios and measurable mitigation.
- Licensure/Certifications: Current P&C insurance license, or willingness and ability to obtain within 90 days of employment. OSHA 500 Certification and CPR Trainer Certification additionally preferred.

Physical Demands | Working Environment
- This role’s physical exertion is sedentary and takes place in an office environment.
- Moderate travel will be required for this position. Most travel is within Nebraska and Iowa. Occasional travel outside of this region is needed. Additional travel will be encouraged for continued education, seminars, and conferences.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Substantial movements and repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Must have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer, and extensive reading.
