Position: Freight Coordinator
Position Summary:
The Freight Coordinator works directly with the Freight Supervisor and Logistics team to ensure the smooth coordination of orders and shipments from the tire manufacturer to the customers. They are responsible for monitoring the shipment of containers over ship, rail, and truck, resolving any issues during the processing and shipping of orders, and making sure that everything is done in a timely manner.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Track and trace containers originating from the manufacturer overseas to customers including ocean, rail, and truck.
- Monitor over-the-road trucking (OTR) for company warehouses.
- Provide timely updates and identify solutions when issues occur.
- Work well under time deadlines.
- Be familiar with SAP and Excel and quickly learn software systems.
- Answer questions and resolve customer/carrier issues using strong problem-solving skills.
- Identify and measure cost-saving solutions for assigned customers.
- Support customers with claims and shortages using professional writing and verbal skills.
- Review and approve all freight invoices.
- Work well with peers and cross-functional teams.
- Work accurately, even with interruptions, to meet deadlines.
- Receive calls and emails from vendors and customers, requiring excellent phone and professional writing skills.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: College preferred.
- Experience: One (1) to Three (3) years of intermodal freight experience required.
Skills/Abilities:
- Good organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff.
- Attention to detail.
