Continuous Improvement Leader
Unicorr Packaging Group, a family-owned leading manufacturer of corrugated and protective packaging, seeks a self-motivated and highly energetic Continuous Improvement Leader in our Marlborough, MA office.
Position Summary:
The primary purpose of this role is to lead continuous improvement functions at our Massachusetts Container location. The scope of this work will include teaching and leading Lean to ensure product quality and integrity through manufacturing improvements, design and process improvements, and cost reduction. The Continuous Improvement Leader must possess an in-depth understanding of Lean management and quality principles with the ability to implement continuous improvement. Must be able to coordinate project activities and develop work assignments for self and others and work actively in the office and in the manufacturing environment with management, team members, corporate engineering and quality staff, and the customer to ensure quality, on-time delivery, reliability and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Drive continuous improvement by developing and implementing systems and process improvements that optimize all phases
- of the production and office processes; actively support the development and implementation of quality improvement plans.
- Compile data and prepare regular and special reports including KPI, OEE, statistical and other reports.
- Drive efficiency and accuracy in all customer related processes, reduce scrap, and improve plant performance.
- Develop and implement strategies for consistent practices across business lines with Team Leaders.
- Work collaboratively with leaders at multiple levels to deploy strategy and manage our Lean system.
- Help develop Lean skills of senior leadership and work with leaders to shape strategic improvement plans.
- Lead and facilitate cross-functional improvement projects.
- Coach and train Lean learners at all levels on the full range of Lean concepts, behaviors and tools.
- Support a Lean community of practice activities.
- Work with the Corporate Director of Lean to support and develop best practices across all Unicorr sites.
- Perform a variety of functions necessary for the successful operation of the department, as assigned
Knowledge and Skills:
- Standard Work and Systems Documentation and Management
- Green Belt/Six Sigma certification preferred.
- Value Stream Mapping

- Variation Reduction Kaizen
- Material Pull System
- Total Production Maintenance
- OEE and KPI’s
- Knowledge and experience with statistical process methods and software systems.
- Analytical skills and understanding of problem solving techniques/tools.
- Data-driven, disciplined, objective and detail oriented.
- Strong communication skills. Demonstrated ability to act as a business partner, “sees the big picture,” and work through ambiguity and change.
- Ability to coach, teach, and work in a team manufacturing environment
- Desire and demonstrated ability to learn and grow
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 3-5 years of experience working in a lean environment
- Lean certification preferred
