Job Description: Shuttle Bus Driver
Position Summary:The Shuttle Bus Driver will be responsible for transporting employees between the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCCD) Carderock Division Headquarters in West Bethesda, MD, and the Washington Navy Yard (WNY) in Washington, DC, on a regularly scheduled basis. The role requires operating a shuttle bus that meets all safety and inspection standards while ensuring a smooth, timely, and professional service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide shuttle services Monday through Friday, following the prescribed schedule (7AM to 4:45PM).
- Pick up and discharge passengers at designated locations:
- Carderock Division Headquarters, West Bethesda, MD
- Washington Navy Yard, Washington, DC
- Maintain the shuttle vehicle, ensuring it meets Navy, local, state, and national safety requirements.
- Communicate with the Government Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for any delays or changes in schedule due to weather, traffic, or other factors.
- Assist passengers with special needs (e.g., visually impaired or those with wheelchairs) within 15 feet of the vehicle.
- Ensure all drivers wear uniforms and identification badges at all times and conduct themselves professionally.
Qualifications:
- A valid Commercial Class C Driver’s License and a clean driving record (no more than two points).
- U.S. citizenship.
- Ability to operate a shuttle bus, transporting up to 15 passengers.
- Ability to handle vehicle maintenance and communicate via radio or cell phone.
- Pass background screening and obtain required clearance badges.
- Provide proof of liability and general public insurance.
Additional Requirements:
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including no reckless driving or dangerous maneuvers.
- Complete daily shuttle log (including passenger count and times) and submit reports to the TPOC.
- Ensure vehicle is comfortable, with climate control for passengers.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to assist passengers with mobility issues.
- Maintain a clean, neat appearance while in uniform.
Working Hours:
- Monday through Friday, with a set shuttle bus schedule.
This is a full-time position offering regular hours and requires adherence to government policies and procedures.
