The EHS Specialist implements, maintains and applies established EHS policies, procedures, and programs aimed at preventing workplace accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents. The EHS Specialist will report directly to the EHS Director and have no direct reports.

Key Responsibilities
The main tasks and responsibilities of the EHS Specialist include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with all departments, management, and employees to promote EHS engagement.
- Address EHS concerns, provide guidance on safe work practices, and encourage employee involvement in EHS initiatives.
- Collaboratively implement with management and employees all EHS policies and procedures.
- Communicate EHS policies to employees and provide counsel when policies are not followed.
- Conduct Risk Assessments to identify potential hazards, evaluate and prioritize the level of risk associated with operational tasks, equipment, and work environments.
- Analyze assessment data, conduct inspections, and work collectively with relevant stakeholders to mitigate risks and implement control measures.
- Train and educate employees to enhance their awareness and understanding of EHS protocols.
- Develop training materials, conduct safety orientations for new employees, and organize ongoing training sessions to keep employees updated on correct EHS practices.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of incidents, arrange needed medical care and secure incident scene to eliminate further injury or damage.
- Lead investigations through evidence collection, witness interviews and data analysis to identify corrective actions that prevent similar incidents in the future.
- Perform EHS site inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and compliance issues.
- Conduct drills to test employee preparedness and ensure prompt response during emergencies.
- Promote a culture of safety by communicating EHS messages and raising awareness across all site locations.
- Disseminate safety information through various channels such as bulletins, newsletters, meetings, pre-shift meetings, communication boards and training sessions.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable EHS regulations and standards by maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of inspections, incidents, training and compliance documentation.
- Continuously evaluate EHS programs, policies, and procedures to identify areas for improvement.
- Associate Degree preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in a manufacturing EHS role.
- Fluent in both Spanish and English (Written & Verbal).
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
- Expertise in OSHA General Industry standards (29 CFR 1910).
- Knowledge of applicable environmental permit requirements regarding air emissions, hazardous waste, stormwater, etc.
- Dynamic, self-starter who enjoys interacting with all personnel.
- Acute attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- This position requires an onsite presence at our Port Washington, New York.
