What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Maintenance Technician II (Light)- Public Works position at Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City?
All positions require that the applicant be a resident of Wyandotte county or willing to relocate within (12) months from the date of hire. As a condition of employment all employees must pass a post offer physical examination and drug screen. And submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.
JOB DESCRIPTION :
Performs maintenance and repairs on all sized Unified Government owned vehicles & equipment. Performs major repairs on gasoline and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions, differentials, brakes, suspension, electrical systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems. Performs Chassis and suspension repairs and alignment as needed. Performs automotive / vehicle air conditioning service with proper certification. Performs welding and fabricating functions as needed. Performs emergency road service as needed. Operates equipment as directed in emergency situations within the confines of the Central Garage location. Assists other technicians as needed and performs related responsibilities as required or directed by supervisor, including but not limited to the car wash, fuel pumps, gates, and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS :
High school or GED; experience in repair and maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of this position. ASE certification is preferred, but not mandatory. Able to obtain CDL Class B Drivers License with airbrake endorsement within the first six months. Valid KS Driver's License required.
Salary Range : 27.77 / hr.
