What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inspector I-NRC-Code Enforcement position at Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City?
All positions require that the applicant be a resident of Wyandotte county or willing to relocate within (12) months from the date of hire. As a condition of employment all employees must pass a post offer physical examination and drug screen. And submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.
Job Description :
This is inspectional related work enforcing compliance with City Codes and Ordinances regulating businesses and occupations, residential and commercial structures, environmental nuisances within an assigned inspection district. Will work independently on field inspections and must make decisions that require independent judgement in accordance with City Ordinances and the internal policies and procedures of the Property Maintenance Compliance Division. Will be required to maintain a reasonable case load as well as all records related to each individual case. Cases may be tried in court or in front of an Administrative Hearing Officer. Work is performed under the general supervision of an Inspection Supervisor who reviews work through conferences, reports, observation, and results obtained.
Job Duties :
- Conduct Inspections of all types of properties within an assigned Inspection District.
- Issue written Notices of Violation to property owners in violation of City Ordinance.
- Assess Administrative Citations to properties which remain in violation after the issuance of
- violation notices.
- Issue Municipal Court Summons to property owners whose properties remain in violation after the issuance of violation notices.
Qualifications :
High School Diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Experience in customer service is preferred. Must possess a valid Driver's License with no moving violations within three years. License number is required at the time of application. License check will be conducted. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written. ICC Certification (Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector) required within 18 months of hire. Upon successful completion of Certification or if the candidate already possesses ICC Certification the position will be reclassified to Inspector 1 Certified. With both ICC Certification and 2 years' experience as an Inspector position can be reclassified to Property Maintenance Inspector Non-Union Range 7($21.22-$27.75)
Salary Range : 19.20 / hr.
