Job Overview :
The General Manager of Project Operations is responsible for overseeing all aspects of business development, project management, and administrative support functions. This includes managing project budgets, schedules, safety compliance, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
Essential Functions :
- Drive brand recognition and financial growth for MSI Tampa.
- Develop and manage strategies for controlling and overseeing all project accounts, technician development, and productivity.
- Supervise employee compliance with company objectives, operating policies, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with existing customers and potential clients, promoting a culture of excellent customer service throughout the service and administrative teams.
- Review current and upcoming projects / accounts, providing relevant field information to the Vice President.
- Evaluate and propose improvements to project initiatives, maintenance techniques, and processes.
- Oversee project budgets, labor efficiency, material usage, technical engineering, and customer satisfaction, ensuring project plans align with these goals.
- Monitor project performance against established plans and standards, providing reports and approving necessary adjustments to course of action.
- Prepare and present monthly performance reports to the Vice President.
- Communicate key issues and decisions to the Vice President for further action.
- Review and approve cost control reports, estimates, and manpower and facility forecasts.
- Represent the company in relevant industry associations and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Promote and facilitate training and educational opportunities to meet company goals and objectives.
- Serve as a role model for junior associates, embodying the companys values and business ethics as outlined in MSI's Mission Statement.
- Collaborate with the Safety Committee to ensure a safe work environment on all projects.
- Hold fiscal responsibility for all projects managed by Project Managers, including assisting the Vice President in budget establishment.
- Allocate new projects to Project Managers based on their expertise, customer relationships, and current workload.
- Assist the Vice President in project hand-off meetings and pre-construction site visits.
- Coordinate estimating efforts and site visits for all project opportunities generated by the Service Groups Account Managers.
- Implement all projects using MSIs Project Management Processes and ensure adherence to the MSI Planning for Productivity module.
- Assist Project Managers in presenting productivity plans to the CEO, President, and Vice President for projects exceeding $500k.
- Conduct annual performance reviews for Project Managers, helping to establish quarterly goals and tracking progress.
- Collaborate closely with vendors, General Contractors, and other subcontractors to ensure project success.
- Maintain consistent communication with project owners and key decision-makers.
- Review 1-week and 3-week Look Ahead schedules for assigned projects.
- Conduct Work In Progress (WIP) reviews with Project Managers, submitting final reports to the Vice President.
- Assist Project Managers in revenue forecasting and monitor billings for accuracy, including managing over- and under-billing.
- Support the preparation and review of estimates and change orders as needed.
