What you’ll do:
The Vice President, Specialty Logistics will report to UniGroup’s Chief Growth and Experience Officer and serve in a key role within the Growth and Experience leadership team. The VP works across the organization with members of the senior leadership team, members and Board Directors, as well as external partners, to understand and assess logistics business model and marketplace. This highly analytical role will assist in the evaluation of the existing Logistics business model to further define and align business cases that will bring volume into our system resulting in growth, while creating an efficient, cost-effective and quality-focused value delivery model for our member agents, external partners and end customers. In addition, the VP will define systems and processes to enable performance, driving change through continuous improvement to modernize the business. The VP will work with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Growth & Experience Officer to ensure enterprise alignment on the direction of the business. This role will require occasional travel.
Assess the Logistics business model, member network, and marketplace to develop business case(s) that will optimize and grow the business
Partner with internal functions to evaluate technology, finance, and other business processes and platforms to determine alignment to Logistics’ direction
Serve in leadership role with UniGroup Board committee to align business direction and objectives within operational and commercial components of Logistics
Align leadership and Board committee to plan of action against business case options
Build strong relationships with partners, suppliers and prospective business partners that will help drive revenue and margin growth
Interact and communicate with a broad range of business and functional groups to identify and implement opportunities for improvement
Oversee the design and implementation of metrics, tracking and reporting systems
Coordinate directly with the COO on operational issues, capacity optimization, and transportation efficiencies
Develop processes and methodologies that deliver competitive levels of customer satisfaction and superior business financial performance
Evaluate growth objectives including the development of new business opportunities to leverage our Logistics model and capacity
Assess competency of the organization and oversee plans to optimize performance and implement specialty logistics best practices
Effectively communicate on Logistics business progress to the rest of the senior leadership team
Assist with the preparation of reporting and analysis
Ensure compliance with UniGroup policies and Federal/State regulations
What you’ll bring:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant business experience
Ten or more years of transportation experience, some experience MUST be within specialty logistics, with at least five years in a senior leader or strategic advisory role
Proven expertise in logistics strategy and continuous improvement
Experience in transformation, business development, organizational change or private equity helpful
Significant collaboration experience with demonstrated ability to work with others and meet shared objectives, even in times of conflicting perspectives, required
Demonstrated track record of business improvement and innovation
Demonstrated experience in evaluating business opportunities and models and providing analysis to inform senior leadership decision making
