The Associate Manager, Internal Communications is part of the North America Communications and Corporate Affairs team and reports to the Senior Manager, Internal Communications. This position is responsible for executing and coordinating integrated communication strategies to ensure that our 8,000 employees across North America—including office, remote and factory locations—are informed and engaged, and that the company's business goals, culture and values are represented.


WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE

The outlined responsibilities of an Associate Manager of Internal Communications at Unilever include:

Content Development & Communications Strategy

  • Write, edit and distribute newsletters, announcements, emails, and intranet updates.

  • Assist in the strategic content development of Town Halls, business results meetings and other market-wide employee events.

  • Proactively develop internal communications content and campaigns that directly contribute to fulfilling the goals of the North America internal communications strategy.

  • Work closely with senior stakeholders across the North America business—including Business Unit General Managers, Functional leaders—to understand internal communications needs and provide strategic counsel and support on new initiatives, company-wide announcements, crisis communications and other support as needed.

  • Regularly monitor internal communications vehicles and employee touchpoints to improve our processes for more proactive, clear and succinct communications, and to identify new opportunities to optimize and evolve content.

  • Be a thought partner to the Senior Manager, Internal Communications, working together to achieve strategic objectives and identify solutions to problems.

  • Develop presentations and reports for team activities as needed.

Planning Events & Employee Engagement

  • Organize town halls and employee events to enhance company culture, including managing logistics, organizing and running prep meetings, vendor management, development of talking points and slide creation.

  • Maintain department calendars for editorial content, activities and events.

  • Own internal communications calendar, including email, intranet the digital communications vehicles.

Analyzing & Maintaining Department Data

  • Help prepare surveys and develop reports and analysis on employee communications and engagement.

  • Track metrics and help analyze data to inform future strategies for both written communications and employee meetings and events.

  • Manage distribution lists and databases for employee communications, and government affairs activities


Administrative Responsibilities

  • Monitor shared internal communications email accounts and take appropriate action to inquiries and requests

  • Liaison with global and function communications colleagues, as well as administrative assistants for key internal stakeholders

  • Assist Director and Senior Manager in tracking expenses against department budget as needed.

  • Process purchase orders and reconcile within financial management system as needed.

  • Coordinate meetings with internal and external constituents for team as needed.


WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

Experiences & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in public relations or corporate communications

  • College degree in public relations, communication, journalism, or related field preferred but not required

  • Proven writing abilities using AP Style

  • Natural storyteller with ability to convey key messages clearly and concisely

  • Strong collaborator that possesses the ability to build relationships across the business with key leaders and with external stakeholders and influencers

  • Ability to manage diverse range of issues and situations

  • Organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to remain focused on key priorities

  • Adaptability and ability to bring a voice of calm to issues management situations

  • Excellent communication skills – writing, editing, speaking and presenting

  • Desire to develop new skills and experiment with new writing tools

Pay: The pay range for this position is $84,400 to $126,600. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
