GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To support the vision, mission and guiding principles of the City.
- While performing any procedure, all associates and contract personnel must observe applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and guidelines. The use of appropriate personal protective equipment is required.
- Attend and participate in training opportunities and seminars relevant to this position.
- Adhere to appropriate City operating procedures, benefit rules, employment, and safety policies/practices.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with maintenance of ball field and park facilities.
- Assist with implementation of recreation activities for a comprehensive program including, sports and youth activities; promote recreation programs and activities.
- Assist with special projects and events as assigned.
- Maintains, monitors, and assists with supplies and inventories, which may include ordering, stocking, picking up and distributing of supplies.
- Explain principles, techniques, and safety procedures to participants in recreational activities and demonstrate use of materials and equipment.
- Administer first aid according to prescribed procedures and notify emergency medical personnel when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with participants, parents, staff members and the general public; provide information and assistance regarding program guidelines, regulations and policies.
- Responds to requests for information from the general public, other internal departments and employees, answers routine questions; directs visitors to appropriate locations; assists with answering multi-phone line system.
- Collects payments for Community Center rentals and sports activities
- Must be able to work weekends and evenings.
- Any other duties as assigned.
- JOB SCOPE
- Under supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, to participate in supporting and conducting recreational programs; to provide help coordinating activities involving program participants; to respond to questions and inquiries from the general public and to perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
- Job has recurring work situations involving moderate degrees of discretion. The need for accuracy and effective utilization of accepted programs and procedures is high. Errors in judgment and execution will waste time and resources adversely impacting unit performance. Incumbent operates independently but work is verified by supervision.

Contacts are across the entire City community and in a leadership capacity. Community contact is a critical component of success in developing good will and support of City programs and initiatives.
Qualifications
COMPETENCIES/SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING PREFERRED:

Education and Experience
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills cited above.
- Any formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
- License or Certificate
- Requires valid Georgia Driver's License. (Candidate drives City vehicle to activity sites.)
- Proof of certification for specialty instruction.
- Must be able to obtain First Aid/CPR certification upon hire.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation program rules, regulations and guidelines. This includes safety rules and procedures established for work area. Knowledge of basic methods and techniques of public relations and basic communication skills.
- An ideal candidate will possess the ability to read rosters and correspondence (i.e. e-mails) from recreation office, work with citizens or participants in accordance with recreation policies and procedures, implement program rules and regulations, lead assigned recreation activities including arts and crafts, sports or children programs and senior programs, respond to requests and inquiries for the general public.
- The ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing are key in this position.
- The candidate will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, county and community officials, other employees, professionals and the general public as well.
