Position Overview:
The Chamber Executive Director is responsible for the strategic leadership, overall management, and growth of Union County Chamber of Commerce. This role will involve working closely with our board of directors, community stakeholders, and chamber members to advance our mission and drive positive change in the local business landscape.
The Executive Director (Director) is responsible for providing leadership and administrative oversight of the Union County Chamber of Commerce, Union County Visitor Information Center, and Union County Tourism (et. al. Chamber) and directing the development and accomplishment of strategic organizational goals. Leadership provided is both strategically and systemically within the organization and outside of it through advocacy at the local, regional, and, if appropriate, state levels in matters of importance to members and the organization. The Executive Director promotes and demonstrates commitment to the organization’s mission, vision, values, and program of work.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a strategic plan that aligns with the chamber's mission and goals, ensuring its effectiveness and adaptability.
2. Membership Development: Grow and retain chamber membership through outreach, engagement, and the development of valuable membership benefits.
3. Financial Management: Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and fundraising efforts to ensure the chamber's financial stability and growth.
4. Advocacy and Public Relations: Serve as the public face of the chamber, advocating for the interests of local businesses and maintaining positive relationships with government agencies, media, and the community.
5. Program Development: Identify and implement programs, events, and initiatives that promote business growth and community prosperity.
6. Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a dedicated team of professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
7. Board Relations: Collaborate effectively with the board of directors, providing regular updates, support, and guidance to ensure the chamber's success.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, or a related field.
- Proven leadership experience, preferably in a chamber of commerce or similar organization.
- Three to five years of experience in a business-related field or other similar leadership position. Additionally, three to five years of experience in program management and/or administration, grant coordination, management, or administration, and budget preparation and administration.
- Three years of supervisory experience.
- Experience operating or working for a small nonprofit preferred.
- Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Visionary thinking and strategic planning abilities.
- Knowledge of local economic, political, and business trends.
- The Director may substitute relevant education or experience to satisfy the above requirements.
Salary Range:
$56,000 to $66,000
