SCHOOL NUTRITION ASSISTANT MANAGER,
FLSA STATUS – NON-EXEMPT 9-MONTH
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Assist the Cafeteria Manager by performing some managerial tasks and by taking charge in absence of manager.
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Cafeteria Manager, School Nutrition Supervisor, School Nutrition Assistant Director and School Nutrition Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide leadership to subordinates through instruction and demonstration.
Direct the day to day activities in the absence of the manager.
Fill in for managers or employees at other schools when necessary.
Work with administration and staff for special events and catering.
Assist in food preparation and cafeteria maintenance.
Communicate positively with school staff, students, parents and visitors.
Assist in monitoring and reporting financial information, food ordering, inventories of food, supplies, and equipment.
Assist in developing marketing strategies to increase participation and sales.
Assume any responsibilities as assigned by cafeteria manager.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Experience should include prior school nutrition employment.
Experience in a similar school nutrition operation may be substituted.
Formal education preferred - technical training or college level. Not a college level - graduation from high school or equivalent. Courses in home economics and special courses such as State Department of Instruction school nutrition courses are suggested. Educational requirements may be waived at the discretion of the School Nutrition Director and the school principal.
Leadership ability - skills in working with and directing people are essential.
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Manager.
