What are the responsibilities and job description for the Building Inspector - Electrical (Hired level based on experience) position at Union County?

Electrical Positions
Conducts field inspections of all phases of new and existing electrical wiring to meet safety standards, National Electrical Codes and Local Electrical Codes.
Inspects electrical work on additions and remodel work.
Inspects change outs of heat and A/C, and hot water heaters.
Performs public contact by phone with owners and contractors, giving interpretations and requirements regarding North Carolina Electrical Code.
Informs homeowners and contractors of work to be corrected to meet North Carolina Electrical Code.
Reviews commercial building plans for compliance with the National Electrical Codes of the North Carolina State Building Code.
Fills out reports of daily inspections and corrections that need to be performed.
Fills in hours worked on timecards.
Answers phone calls from the public and contractors for jobs scheduled for next working day.
Maintains County vehicle and personal appearance as a representative of the county in a professional manner.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a safe driving record as defined by the Union County Vehicle Use Policy.
Building Inspector I (Salary range $48,460 - $72,690):
High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED), with vocational training with major course work in construction trades, and one (1) year of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must maintain a minimum of an Electrical Level I Standard Certificate through the North Carolina Department of Insurance.
Building Inspector II (Salary range $58,074 - $87,111):
High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED), with vocational training with major course work in construction trades, and three (3) years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must maintain a minimum of an Electrical Level II Standard Certificate through the North Carolina Department of Insurance.
Building Inspector III (Salary range $62,720 - $94,080):
High School Diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED), with vocational training with major course work in construction trades, and five (5) years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Maintenance of an Electrical Level III Standard Certificate through the North Carolina Department of Insurance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment like telephone, calculator, electrical diagram, and other electrical tools. Must be physically able to operate a truck. Must be physically able to use hand tools, to climb, and to lift. Also required to walk to and though job sites, excavations, and constructions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in occupied dwellings as well as new structures under construction. Adverse weather conditions such as cold, heat and rain will be present on construction sites.
